Best Companies for People with Disabilities Methodology
All Glassdoor Ratings and Recommendation Rates were collected using the Glassdoor.com API. Disability Equality Index (DEI) data was collected from the Disability Equality Index website, a joint initiative of the American Association of People with Disabilities (AAPD) and Disability:IN. All data was extracted in October 2018.
Criteria for Inclusion
To be considered for TalentDesk’s 2018 Best Companies for People with Disabilities, companies were required to be listed in the DEI’s 2018 Best Places to Work. Qualified companies were scored based on Glassdoor rating data for the following categories: company culture, leadership, compensation and benefits, career opportunities, and work life balance. Companies scoring less than 60 out of 100 for any of those factors were removed from the list.
Companies were also required to have a Glassdoor recommendation rate of 70% or above and a DEI score of 80% or above. Recommendation rate and DEI percentage were factored in with the rating score in order to calculate an overall Company Score. Companies were ranked according to Company Score on a 100 point scale, and ties were broken by looking at individual company culture scores.
